The Soup Kitchen

St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in New York City runs a programme called The Soup Kitchen that serves hot, nutritious meals to individuals who are in need. The organization’s goal is to end hunger and food insecurity in the city by giving people and families a warm, encouraging place to gather and eat a healthy meal.

 

No of their ethnicity or membership with a particular religion, anybody in need can get food at the Soup Kitchen. For those who are unable to visit the Soup Kitchen during normal meal times, the programme now offers a bag lunch programme in addition to hot meals. Volunteers freely offer their time and resources to the organisation in order to support its objectives.

The Soup Kitchen offers a range of assistance services to individuals in need in addition to food. Access to social workers, case managers, and healthcare professionals are among these services.
