The Rhondda Foodbank is available to anybody in the Rhondda Valley who is in need of food assistance. For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2020, 3,055 people, including 2,033 adults and 1,022 children, received emergency food from the food bank. Schools, churches, groups, and individuals all contributed to the success of this supply drive.

Over-indebtedness, which affects 21.9% of residents in Rhondda Valley, is a big issue in the region. The COVID-19 epidemic has exacerbated the situation for many individuals who were already trying to make ends meet. As a result of the present food scarcity, Rhondda Foodbank has expanded its outreach to those in need.

The Rhondda Foodbank is one of the countrywide network of foodbanks founded by the Trussell Trust to combat hunger and food insecurity in the United Kingdom. Since it is a member of the Trussell Trust’s network and receives guidance and help from them, the Rhondda Foodbank is able to offer such a vast array of services to the local community.

In addition to providing food for the poor, the Rhondda Foodbank also assists persons in need in locating other resources and offers debt and general counseling. Volunteers at the organization work diligently to ensure that the food provided is fresh and nutritionally balanced. Typically, foodbank gift baskets include enough food for three days, including cereal, milk, fruit juice, soup, pasta, meat, fish, and vegetables.

Each of the eight sites of the Rhondda Foodbank is open for two hours once or twice every week. These center are a lifeline for those who are trying to make ends meet since they provide access to food and professional therapy.

The capacity of local professionals, like as doctors, health visitors, social workers, and police, to identify persons in need and refer them to the Rhondda Foodbank is the organization’s greatest strength. By collaborating, we can ensure that those in most need get quick support.
