Second Harvest of the Greater Valley is a non-profit organisation dedicated to combating food insecurity in its community. The organisation operates on the premise that everyone has a legal right to sustenance, regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, veteran status, or disability status.

Their food pantry is one of the ways Second Harvest of the Greater Valley combats food insecurity. Referrals grant clients access to the larder, allowing them to select the food they require from the organisation’s stock of nutritious products.

Second Harvest of the Greater Valley also facilitates clients in enrolling for CalFresh, a programme that provides electronic food benefits on a monthly basis. Golden State Advantage Cards, comparable to bank plastic cards, are issued to clients for the purchase of sustenance. The certification procedure takes approximately 30 days, and the Thrifty Food Plan of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) determines eligibility for CalFresh benefits.

Additionally, Second Harvest foodbank collaborates with more than ninety partner agencies and pantries throughout the region to distribute food and other resources to those in need. There are also food packs available for clients who require immediate assistance.

The Mobile Fresh programme of Second Harvest of the Greater Valley provides food distribution services to children, schools, and summer food programmes. During the summer months, this initiative ensures that children who rely on school meals have access to nutritious cuisine.

The food bank provides essential services to combat food insecurity in the community. Their dedication to nondiscrimination, food pantries, CalFresh, partner agencies, emergency food kits, and the Mobile Fresh programme is essential to ensuring that everyone has access to nutritious food during times of need.
