Bradford North Foodbank
Helping Local People in Crisis
Bradford North Foodbank is a charitable organization dedicated to assisting individuals and families facing financial crisis in the Bradford area. With an increasing demand for their services, they rely on the support of the local community to provide essential food and assistance to those in need. This article aims to provide an overview of the organization, its mission, and the services it offers.
Vision and Mission:
The vision of Bradford North Foodbank is to create a community where no one goes hungry or experiences food insecurity. Their mission is to provide immediate relief to individuals and families in crisis by offering nutritionally balanced food parcels and access to essential resources.
Services Offered:
Emergency Food Assistance:
Bradford North Foodbank operates six food bank centers across the area, namely St Luke’s Foodbank Centre, Church On The Way Foodbank Centre, Shipley Foodbank Centre, Trinity Rawdon Foodbank Centre, Windhill Foodbank Centre, and Warehouse for stock donations. These centers offer a warm welcome to visitors and provide nutritionally balanced tinned and dried food parcels. Food vouchers are issued by referral agencies to ensure fair distribution and targeted assistance.
Referral System:
To access the foodbank services, individuals must obtain a food parcel voucher number from a referral agency. The vouchers are valid for one parcel and cannot be reused. Individuals are encouraged to stay engaged with the referral agency for further assistance and support.
Donation of Food and Toiletries:
Donations play a crucial role in the operation of Bradford North Foodbank. The organization relies heavily on contributions from the local community. Donations can be directly delivered to their warehouse or designated collection points in accessible public locations. Various grocery stores and non-grocery locations accept donations, making it convenient for individuals to contribute to this worthy cause.
Monetary Donations:
In addition to food donations, monetary contributions are highly appreciated by Bradford North Foodbank. These donations help cover major expenses such as salaries, rent, utilities, admin, communications, and van maintenance. Donors can make one-time contributions through bank cheques or online banking, and Gift Aid Declarations are available for tax benefits. The organization also encourages regular donations through the 200 Club, aiming to reach 200 members making monthly standing order donations.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Bradford North Foodbank welcomes volunteers from both church and non-church backgrounds. Volunteers play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of foodbank centers, warehouse management, and administrative tasks. By dedicating their time and skills, volunteers contribute to the mission of the organization and help make a positive impact in their community.
Conclusion:
Bradford North Foodbank is a lifeline for individuals and families facing financial crisis in the Bradford area. Their dedicated team of staff and volunteers work tirelessly to provide emergency food assistance and access to essential resources. By donating food, toiletries, or money, and by volunteering, individuals can contribute to the vision of a community where no one goes hungry. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those in need.
