Emerging from Abu Dhabi’s ecological canvas, the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) has been steadfastly protecting the emirate’s biodiversity since 1996. This renowned environmental regulator’s inception was driven by the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, a known conservation pioneer.

“A Tradition of Preservation”

With the aim of enhancing life quality, EAD has committed to protect Abu Dhabi’s diverse species. This commitment led to the creation of the acclaimed Sheikh Zayed Protected Areas Network and enabled the discovery of over 100 previously unknown invertebrates, transforming local conservation methods.

“Regulatory Duties and Accomplishments”

As the chief environmental regulator, EAD annually conducts thousands of inspections, assessing potential environmental hazards. These assessments help implement policies promoting sustainability and environmental protection while fostering innovative, result-oriented strategies.
