Second Harvest of Silicon Valley is a non-profit organisation committed to eliminating poverty in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. Organization is committed to providing access to healthful, nutrient-dense food to those in need, with over 400 partners at over 900 locations across two counties.

The organisation operates a multitude of anti-hunger initiatives. Its grocery programmes provide low-income residents with free, nutritious food, with volunteers distributing meals throughout the community. Food Connection is also available to assist individuals in locating free food in their communities and connecting with local food programmes and CalFresh applications.

In addition, Organization feeds over 400 non-profit organisations in Silicon Valley, including churches, schools, elder centers, community organizations, charity kitchens, rehabilitation facilities, and shelters. Additionally, the organisation collaborates with local school districts and community organisations to ensure that schoolchildren have access to nutritious breakfasts and sandwiches.

Organization leads local initiatives to expand summer meal programmes and notify families of their availability during the summer months, when school lunches are unavailable. Additionally, the organisation assists CalFresh applicants with Santa Clara and San Mateo county social assistance organizations, as well as food businesses and farmers’ markets that accept EBT cards.

Beyond its programs, Second Harvest of Silicon Valley engages in advocacy, lobbying local, state, and national organisations for legislative and policy changes that improve food assistance programmes and target the root causes of starvation. Organization is making a significant contribution to the creation of a more food-secure community through its multifaceted approach to addressing starvation.
