The San Francisco-Marin Food Bank is dedicated to eradicating poverty in San Francisco and Marin County. Since its founding in 1987, the food bank has served the community for more than 35 years. The organisation believes that sustenance is a fundamental human right and a necessity for human survival.

The San Francisco-Marin Food Bank’s CalFresh program, which provides eligible low-income individuals and families with access to healthful and nutritious food, is one of its most important initiatives. The food bank assisted 3,000 households in applying for CalFresh benefits in 2020-2021, and families enrolled by the organisation received over $10 million in food benefits.

In addition to operating college food pantries, the food bank collaborates with six colleges to host food pantries. In 2019-2020, the food bank served weekly meals to over 995 students. In addition, the organisation collaborates with over 350 community organisations and distributes 78% of its food to 250 pantries.

Farm to Family is another significant initiative of the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank. In 2020-2021, the organisation distributed over 67 million pounds of food and provided weekly access to six to ten varieties of fruits and vegetables.

Additionally, the food bank operates food pharmacies that provide participants with access to nutritious and healthful food. In 2020-2021, the organisation distributed over fifty thousand meals to participants, and the food pharmacies serve one hundred fifty households.

Additionally, the Food Bank administers a mobile food pantry that delivers food to underprivileged communities. Everyone can support the organisation through donations, volunteering, and advocacy efforts.
