Ashby Foodbank

Ashby Foodbank is a local community organization that provides critical assistance to those in need. Last year, the organization provided 1,700 three-day emergency food supplies to individuals in need with the assistance of volunteers. Since opening its doors in 2013, the Ashby Foodbank has been providing much-needed assistance to individuals and families.

As a member of the Trussell Trust network, Ashby Foodbank adheres to the highest standards for foodbank provision. The foodbank accepts donations of nonperishable food from schools, churches, businesses, and individuals. Volunteers then organize the food by expiration date and place it into cartons for distribution to those in need.

Professionals including physicians, health visitors, social workers, and police identify individuals in need and refer them to the Ashby Foodbank. The organization collaborates closely with local churches and community groups to ensure that everyone in need has access to the foodbank.

Ashby Foodbank believes that everyone, regardless of circumstance, deserves access to nutritious food. To this end, the organization endeavors to accommodate all dietary preferences, including Halal and gluten-free diets. People in crisis receive three days’ worth of emergency food supplies from the foodbank, which can be extended to longer-term support if necessary.

The Ashby Foodbank provides more than just sustenance to those in need. Additionally, the organization provides a secure and welcoming environment for individuals to seek support and guidance. Foodbank volunteers are trained to refer individuals to relevant support services, such as debt counseling, housing assistance, and mental health services.

In conclusion, the Ashby Foodbank is a vital lifeline for those in need. Since 2013, the organization has provided much-needed assistance and has distributed 1,700 three-day emergency food supplies to individuals in crisis over the past year. With the assistance of volunteers, schools, churches, businesses, and individuals, the foodbank works to ensure that everyone in the community has access to wholesome, nourishing food when they need it most.
