EVA Women’s Aid

EVA Women’s Aid is a feminist and survivor-focused organization that provides free and confidential services to women and children who have experienced domestic abuse and sexual assault in Redcar & Cleveland. As a Women’s Aid and rape support center, EVA Women’s Aid offers a comprehensive “wraparound” service to victims, including counseling for adults, children, and adolescents, assisted housing, legal surgery, schools programs, and independent domestic violence advocacy.

EVA Women’s Aid is the only organization in the region to provide such a comprehensive service to victims, which includes housing, individual assistance, programs, training, and counseling. The organization is a full member of the Women’s Aid Federation of England (WAFE) and has been awarded their National Quality Standards, demonstrating their prioritization of the needs of victims and survivors.

In addition to their services for victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault, EVA Women’s Aid provides a free student workshop to schools in the Redcar and Cleveland area. The workshop focuses on maintaining online and interpersonal safety, strong partnerships, consent, and assistance for adolescents.

EVA Women’s Aid also offers training to nighttime economy enterprises in the Redcar and Cleveland area to increase awareness and put an end to sexual harassment in the community. The training aims to help businesses recognize sexual harassment, protect their clients, and safeguard their employees.

EVA Women’s Aid provides specialized counseling and therapeutic support for adult women who have been traumatized by domestic and/or sexual violence, and female victims of childhood sexual abuse also have access to therapeutic counseling. The organization also provides specialized counseling and therapeutic assistance for children and young people ages 4 to 18 who have been traumatized by domestic abuse and/or sexual assault. EVA Women’s Aid also offers support and guidance for a range of issues such as benefits, debts, utility bills, mandatory reconsiderations, education, employment, and grants for those fleeing domestic abuse.

Although the EVA Women’s Aid offices are currently closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, their staff is still providing services remotely via phone, email, text, and social media connections.
