Alton Foodbank
Since the day it opened its doors, the Alton Foodbank has been there to provide a helping hand to those who find themselves in a difficult financial situation by giving them with food aid. Because of its affiliation with the Trussell Trust, it has developed into an essential component of the community in which it is located. The foodbank is dependent on contributions from schools, churches, companies, and people in order to distribute non-perishable food items that are not over their expiration dates to those who are in need.
The running of the Alton Foodbank is greatly aided by the contributions of its many dedicated volunteers. They organize and bundle the food supplies, checking expiration dates and making sure everything is in good condition before distributing it. People who are in need of assistance are identified by the experts, who may include physicians, health visitors, social workers, and police officers, and then sent to the Alton Foodbank. In order to help a greater number of individuals in need, the organization has developed fruitful collaborations with the churches and other organizations in the surrounding area.
Tuesdays from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm, Wednesdays from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm, and Saturdays from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm are the hours of operation for the Alton Foodbank. During these times, individuals are able to come and get their food supplies for an emergency that will last for three days. In 2019, the Alton Foodbank was able to give more than 3,000 people and families who were going through difficult times with emergency food supply that would last for three days.
In conclusion, the Alton Foodbank has developed into an essential component of the surrounding community as a result of the fact that it offers not just food help but also an ear to listen and direction in the direction of other services. In order to continue its work and create a positive impact on the lives of others, the organization is dependent on financial contributions and the efforts of volunteers.
